When started talking about her QuickBooks file and her trouble balancing her accounts with her statements. The discussion came around to making a backup so that I could review her file in greater detail in my office. Much to my amazement, she stated in the nine months she had been in operation she had never once backed up her file.
She was lucky. Her computer has never attacked by a virus or suffered a breakdown that would send any business owner into a spin. While computers have become more stable over the years, they still are vulnerable to viruses, crashes and more.
I recommend backing up your financial software at least once a month as well as the rest of your files. It only takes a few minutes. Write an appointment on your calendar with your computer to get the task done each month. When do you start? How about today, right now?
